The Honor Roll Students from Mrs. Helmuth’s Class were given an opportunity to experience what it was like to live in the village of Usher’s Ferry between 1890 and 1910. They were each given the name and characteristics of a person who lived in Usher’s Ferry during these years. The students dressed in costumes of that time in history.

The first stop on their trip was the Cherry Valley One-Room Schoolhouse. The students were led by a guide through a day at the Schoolhouse as their character. After lunch the guide took the students through the business district of Usher’s Ferry. They saw the General Store and compared prices to Wal-Mart today. They also visited the family homes of the community’s residents.

An ice cream snack was enjoyed on the way home.
