The Panthers ended their volleyball season on Saturday, October 27 by participating in the Heart of America Christian Conference Invitational. The teams participating were the Cedar Rapids Comets, First Baptist Patriots, Quad Cities Christian Eagles and our Pathway Panthers.

The Panthers first opponent was First Baptist from Geneseo, Illinois. After an injury to Pathway setter, Haley Slabaugh, the team tried to regroup and regain some momentum. In the end, First Baptist won the match 2-0.

Quad Cities Christian was the Panthers next competition. With one player down, a new line-up, and an attitude of “we can”, the Panthers took the court. It was a close match, but the Panthers prevailed and won the match 2-0.

Pathway’s third and fourth matches were against their conference rival, the Cedar Rapids Comets. The Panthers played with renewed energy, but the competition was tough! Pathway knew if they won, they would play in the Championship Game. They won both matches 2-0.

The Championship Match was a rematch between Pathway and First Baptist. Pathway won the first game, but First Baptist won the next one. The teams took turns leading the third game; but when all was said and done, Pathway had won the game and the Championship!

Racine Miller and Megan Tinnes were selected to the All-Tournament Team. Megan was also named the MVP of
the tournament.

Congratulations to the team and their coaches, Kurt Kemp and Kari McGaffey!
