Trip to Northern Ridge Berry Farm

Pathway Christian students from kindergarten to sixth grade toured Northern Ridge Berry Farm in Oxford on September 22.  The farm, run by David and Penny Lacina and his mother, Bonnie, focuses on growing produce for resale using “responsible agricultural practices”.  Students were each given a cup and the opportunity to pick raspberries, filling their cups plus eating all they cared to eat.  At the end of the tour, there was a treat of apple cider and each person received a miniature decorative pumpkin.

The trip served to create a greater awareness of food sources and large scale garden production plus it provided the students an enjoyable taste of harvesting.
